Our education and reading reality…
- Often, administrators have not yet received Science of Reading professional development, and yet are required to purchase thousands of dollars of reading curriculum on a scheduled and revolving basis.
- Teachers may or may not have received Science of Reading professional development, but are provided resources that do not follow best practices for students.
- Parents look to schools to know how to educate all children. However, teachers did not learn Science of Reading and Structured Literacy practices in college courses.
- When the headaches and stomach aches start, parents take their children to the doctor. Physicians often don’t know the key factors for identifying reading difficulties in school.
- The child, who has the least amount of control in this situation, is in the middle of the misinformation vortex struggling to access the knowledge that is provided in class after class after class.
It is the mission of R.E.A.D. Redefined to work with school administration, teachers, parents, physicians, and students to redefine what reading education looks like for all children.
Our goal is:
- to provide physicians and schools the how-to knowledge for identifying the
1-in-5 students that are dyslexic;
- to instruct teachers and administrators to provide Science of Reading and Structured Literacy with the school-provided curriculum;
- to support the school community by providing qualified interventionists to work with students despite the limitations of locations.
